Teeth straightening in Stevenage
Discuss the different types of braces with us to help straighten your teeth. Book your consultationVisit our specialist Orthodontist for a consultation who will thoroughly examine the alignment of your teeth and discuss the various options available.
Orthodontic treatment involves moving teeth to a better position to improve the appearance, function and general health of your mouth. Various appliances are used to apply gentle forces and these can treat a range of issues including:
- Crooked or crowded teeth
- Overly spaced teeth
- Twisted teeth
- Protruding teeth
- Upper and lower teeth not biting together properly

Fixed braces
These consist of metal brackets, attached to the front surface of the teeth, and thin metal wires, held in place with elastics. More discreet fixed braces, with ceramic brackets and tooth coloured wires, are also available.
Treatment steps
- If your teeth are overcrowded, it may be necessary to remove one or more teeth prior to having your brace fitted.
- The brackets will be fixed in place with a strong dental adhesive to which the wires are then attached.
- The memory wire initially moves the crown of the tooth and will then focus on the root.
- Regular adjustments will be needed every 4-6 weeks.
Some people can experience a little discomfort during orthodontic treatment, particularly in the first few days after fitting or following a tightening appointment. Paracetamol or ibuprofen can ease any soreness and sticking to a soft diet may help.
Treatment times vary depending on the patient, but on average it takes 12-24 months for fixed braces to realign teeth.
Invisalign
Hydean Dental Practice is an established provider of Invisalign. Our team has considerable experience with this type of treatment.
Invisalign® system works with state-of-the-art technology, providing both you and us with precise results. Invisalign involves a series of custom-made clear aligners that are changed every few weeks and gradually move teeth to their desired position. These are made from clear, plastic material that sits over your teeth. They are virtually invisible, so most people will not even know you are wearing them.
They are removable, so you can keep teeth and gums clean, and there is no restriction on what you can eat.
